Legionella and legionellosis
Course Description
This half day course is designed to give the participant a background knowledge of the collection and reporting processes involved in testing for Legionella in the human environment. Basic ecology, collection procedures, PCR-based analysis of clinical and environmental samples, and interpretation of reported results for Legionella will be explored.
Learning Outcomes
When this course is completed the participants will be able to:
- Describe the natural ecology of Legionella as a means to improve sampling in human environments;
- Understand PCR-based analytical methods for Legionella; and,
- Successfully interpret the results reported by the analytical laboratory.
